Ballon d’Or 2022 – List of nominees live: Courtois, Salah and Nkonko open the ball

7:45 pm: Five nominees for the Men’s Ballon d’Or

  • Thibaut Courtois (Belgium, Real Madrid)
  • Rafael Leao (Portugal / AC Milan)
  • Joshua Kimmich (Germany / Bayern Munich)
  • Christopher Nkunko (France / Leipzig)
  • Mohamed Salah (Egypt / Liverpool)

We start the list of nominees for the Men’s Ballon d’Or with a first group of five. There we find Thibaut Courtois, already running for the Yachine Prize, but also Frenchman Christopher Nkunku, crowned Bundesliga Player of the Year with RB Leipzig and in the rise of Blues Didier Deschamps. Rafael Liao, brilliant in pursuit of the Italian champion title with Milan, as well as Joshua Kimmich, the primary link for Germany and Bayern. Just like Mohamed Salah, who will surely get a good rank after another amazing season at Liverpool.

7:15 pm: Five nominees for the Women’s Ballon d’Or

  • Assisat Oshoala (Nigeria, Barcelona)
  • Marie Antoinette Catuto (France / Paris Saint-Germain)
  • Millie Bright (England / Chelsea)
  • Trinity Rodman (USA/Washington)
  • Ada Hegerberg (Norway/Lyon)

We have finished off the list of contenders for the Women’s Ballon d’Or with the other five names, including Blues and Paris Saint-Germain striker Marie Antoinette Catuto. Unfortunately, she saw her Euro stop prematurely due to injury. OL’s Norwegian star, Ada Hgerberg, is also in this group, as is Millie Bright, the European champion with England, Asisat Oshoala, Barcelona’s Nigerian striker, and American young prodigy Trinity Rodman.

7:12 pm: Five nominees for the Women’s Ballon d’Or

  • Alexandra Pope (Germany / Wolfsburg)
  • Aitana Ponmate (Spain / Barcelona)
  • Wendy Renard (France / Lyon)
  • Alex Morgan (USA / San Diego)
  • Beth Meade (England / Arsenal)

Possibly a winner group in the future. The English Beth Mead is anyway one of my favorite places. The Arsenal striker, the top scorer and best player in the European Championship, obviously has big arguments to make. The other top scorer for the Euros, German Alexandra Pope, as well as Lyonnais and Wendy Renard, was present, key to OL’s victory in the Champions League. Spanish rising star Aitana Ponmate and American legend Alex Morgan completed this quintet.

6:58 pm: Five nominees for the Women’s Ballon d’Or

  • Christian Endler (Chile / Lyon)
  • Lena Oberdorf (Germany / Wolfsburg)
  • Cadidato Diani (France / Paris Saint-Germain)
  • Catarina Macario (Brazil / Leon)
  • Alexia Putillas (Spain, Barcelona)

The second group of five nominated for the Women’s Ballon d’Or, which includes trophy holder, Alexia Putillas. The Spaniard, who reached the Champions League final, was very unhappy this summer with a serious knee injury just before the European Championship that left her out of action for nearly a year. There are also two European champions from Lyonnais, Christian Endler and Katerina Macario, Parisian Kadidiato Diani and finally Germany’s Lina Oberdorf, who reached the final of the European Championship with her selection.

6:54 pm: Five nominees for the Women’s Ballon d’Or

  • Salma Pasha (France / Lyon)
  • Fridolina Rulfo (Sweden, Barcelona)
  • Vivian Miedema (Netherlands, Arsenal)
  • Lucy Bronze (England / Manchester City, then Barcelona)
  • Sam Kerr (Australia / Chelsea)

Here are the first five women’s Ballon d’Or nominees, including France’s Salma Basha, the rising star of Olympique Lyonnais and Team France. We also find Dutchman Vivian Midema and Australian Sam Kerr, two reference strikers for the English Premier League at Arsenal and Chelsea, as well as Sweden’s Fridolina Rulfo, who reached the Champions League final with Barcelona and the Champions League semi-finals. In particular, former Lyonnais Lucy Bronze, one of the contenders for the cup after being crowned European champions with England, and recently moved from Manchester City to FC Barcelona.

6:45 p.m.: The ten shortlisted for the Yacht Cup

  • Alisson (Brazil / Liverpool)
  • Yassine Bounou (Morocco / Seville)
  • Thibaut Courtois (Belgium, Real Madrid)
  • Ederson (Brazil / Manchester City)
  • Hugo Lloris (France / Tottenham)
  • Mike Minnian (France, Milan)
  • Edouard Mendy (Senegal / Chelsea)
  • Manuel Neuer (Germany / Bayern Munich)
  • Jan Oblak (Slovenia / Atletico Madrid)
  • Kevin Trapp (Germany / Eintracht Frankfurt)

For the Best Goalkeeper of the Season trophy, two Frenchmen are in attendance. Hugo Lloris, porter of the Blues and Tottenham, and Mike Minnan, are now installed in the France squad and author of a remarkable first season with AC Milan. Cup holder, Italian Gianluigi Donnarumma is absent after one year at Paris Saint-Germain marked by his adventures against Real Madrid in the Champions League. It is precisely the Spanish club’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, who appears to be the favorite after an impressive season punctuated by a man of the match in the Champions League final.

6:35 pm: The 10 nominees for the Cuban Prize

  • Karim Adeyemi (Germany / Salzburg and then Borussia Dortmund)
  • Jude Bellingham (England / Borussia Dortmund)
  • Eduardo Camavinga (France, Real Madrid)
  • Gavi (Spain, Barcelona)
  • Ryan Gravenberch (Netherlands / Ajax Amsterdam and then Bayern Munich)
  • Josko Gvardiol (Croatia / Leipzig)
  • Nuno Mendes (Portugal / Paris Saint-Germain)
  • Jamal Musiala (Germany / Bayern Munich)
  • Boyako Saka (England / Arsenal)
  • Florian Wirts (Germany / Bayer Leverkusen)

For the tournament that rewards the best under-21 player of the season, we find in particular the French Eduardo Camavinga, the European champion with Real Madrid. If not coached by Carlo Ancelotti, the former Reigns would have made a huge impact on the bench. Also note the presence of Nuno Mendes, the Portuguese side’s author of a fantastic first season with PSG. It is not easy to clear favorites. But Spaniard Gavi, who moved to Barcelona as a selection group, may have a small start to succeed Pedri, his teammate and compatriot.

6:30 pm: The list of the ten nominees for the Copa Cup will open this evening. It will follow among the 10 nominees for the Yachine Prize, among the 20 nominees for the Women’s Ballon d’Or, and finally the announcement of the 30 nominees for the Men’s Ballon d’Or.

It’s time for the first major event of the 2022 Ballon d’Or. The list of 30 nominees for the top individual prize will be announced from 6:30 pm, as well as the list for the Copa Cup, Yachting Cup and Yachting Cup. Women’s Golden Ball. As is the case every year, the issue is particularly relevant to those absent from this list. The big question is whether Leo Messi, the trophy holder, will be present after he faced a difficult first season at PSG. A question that also applies to fellow Brazilian Neymar.
The other issue has to do with the possibility of names we didn’t necessarily expect to appear on the list. Unexpected rivals in pursuit of the reward seemingly promised to Karim Benzema. The French striker is having a great season with Real Madrid. The Spanish and European champions, top scorer of the Champions League and La Liga, is the favorite for the 2022 Ballon d’Or, which will be awarded on October 17.
