Peugeot e-208 at 150 euros per month without contribution: where is the confusion?

The electric version of the Peugeot 208 already accounted for nearly 20% of last year’s Little Lioness registrations. Finally, note that the sauce was taken in a Peugeot and a city car with a power of 136 hp and equipped with a 50 kWh battery. But to increase sales and reduce annual CO2 averages faster, today Stellantis is launching a program called “Electric As You Go”.. Available for three models initially (Peugeot e-208, Opel Corsa e and Opel Mokka e), it is a lease developed by the company’s subsidiary e-Mobility, together with PSA Banque and Opel Bank, the two financing agencies involved for this purpose. A long-term lease on tempting paper. But is it really?

So you read correctly: Since yesterday, the French Peugeot network offers the e-208 at 150 euros per month, without contribution. The only limitation is a mileage of “at least” 500 km per month. Even better, the French brand “offers” you 500 euros in addition to that! But to get to such an amount, you guessed it, you have to combine help. Initially, the contribution is €10,500. A clearly huge envelope, but reduced to €4,500 thanks to the €6,000 CO2 bonus. It will still be necessary to receive the car fairly quickly, since the bonus is calculated at the time of invoicing which is often made upon delivery. However, the aid of 6000 euros has been extended until December 31, But make sure your Peugeot dealer can deliver the e-208 to you before the end of the year.

The remaining 4,500 euros will be compensated with Transfer bonus, mandatory to take advantage of this rental offer in the form of long-term rental. Obviously, if you don’t have a gasoline (pre-2006) or diesel (pre-2011) car to trade with, go your own way. Currently, there are two different types of premiums: €5,000 for reference tax income of less than €13,489 and €2,500 for anyone with a higher RFR.

If you do the calculation correctly, you will get the following result: 10500 € – 6000 € (bonus) – 5000 € (transfer bonus) = 500 € “gift” from Peugeot, no “bring”. Obviously, if you are “too rich” to take advantage of the maximum transfer bonus, you will have to pay €2000 as an initial contribution.

How much will the Peugeot e-208 cost you?

The monthly payments are explained as follows. The basis of the lease is 110 euros per month, to which a per kilometer cost of 0.07 euros must be added. It is clear that for 500 km per month (the minimum to be covered, we remind you), you reach this popular monthly payment of 150 euros, excluding the price of recharging (about 8 euros on the e-208, on a domestic socket entirely hours). The brand’s e-208 telematics capability allows you to charge based on monthly mileage. Based on 15,000 km per year, a value close to the French average, the e-208 will cost you 200 euros per month. in contrast, This LLD spans just over 24 months…but in the end turned out to be more interesting than the current offerings of the classic LLD on the e-208 (€290 per month, 40,000km, 49 months, no contribution). Finally, you’ll have to cancel a car to leave on a barely two-year lease, with nothing at the end given there’s no option to buy. This is perhaps the most annoying.
