Bloomberg has just released its ranking of the best electric cars marketed in the United States. Approximately 35 patterns appear in this evolving chart, with scores dropping from 100 from 71.1 to 27.4.
Carbon footprint in use
In order to arrive at its ranking, Bloomberg has embarked on scientific calculations that take into account the work of the MIT Research Institute. Over the life of the vehicle, 70% is attributable to the carbon footprint related to vehicle use.
This value takes into account the vehicle’s mileage range, in relation to its empty weight in pounds, and in relation to a reference value set at 0.1099. The latter is 10% higher than the range/weight ratio of the more efficient car.
The best is to take for example the Lucid Air Dream Edition group that comes out on top of the podium with a score of 71.1 out of 100. It has a range of 520 miles. It weighs 5,203 pounds empty with battery. As a first step, Bloomberg divides independence by weight: 520/5,203 = 0.0999423.
This result is again divided by the reference value 0.1099. Which gives us 0.909393. And to get a share of 70%, this number is multiplied by 0.7 and then by 100. So: 0.909393 x 0.7 x 100 = 63.65751.
Carbon Footprint in Manufacturing
To determine differences in the manufacturing carbon footprint, Bloomberg is focusing on the battery only. To find out the tone of the car, it is enough at the end to add the two values. This means 63.65751 + 7.45932 for the selected Lucid Air, i.e. 71.11683, rounded to 71.1.
With strong blows of the machete
