subordinate second hand and the “low prices” for some valuables. This is the concept developed by three young men from Toulouse: By Roman Jia and Brian Tawi And the Alicia Jacob. An adventure that started about a year ago before actually taking off from March 2022.
“Our goal is to dust off the image of second-hand, moving away from that second-hand aspect and offering luxury second-hand products with a high-quality support service,” explains Roman, co-founder of Ormain.
Often new products
which is based in Toulouse And the Biarritz, the young team makes a point of honor to bring back exceptional products that are “mostly unworn”. A simple whim or a lackluster gift, items sold on Ormain are mostly new.
“We sort. There is no doubt about taking back everything and anything. We prefer modern products that will be part of a fashionable catalog.”
Far from being comparable to online selling sites like Vinted or Leboncoin, Ormain brings the expertise to virtually authenticate and display products on its platform. “It is not a one-to-one platform. We collect the items that we analyze before they are sent to the buyer in less than 48 hours,” Tolosin defines.
All transactions and shipments are insured with product value. “The goal for us is to offer the most attractive prices so that there is turnover on the site.”
“We are trying to build a world around second-hand luxury products and not just sellers.”
Coins at gold prices
Since its inception, Ormain has sold parts that can amount to 4,500 euros. “Chanel bags are in particular demand,” comments the team, which expects a large inventory of Hermès bags in the coming months. And there, it could go up to 8000 euros or 10,000 euros. »
How it works ?
Concretely, how does it work? Two options are available for Ormain: cash purchase for a part that will then be resold or a traditional deposit with commission taken from the purchase price from the seller. For the buyer, there is nothing special compared to buying a classic on the Internet.
“There are always negotiations, continues Roman Jia. We can raise our estimates and lower our commissions … We try to reach an agreement.”
Ormain also offers a personalized shopping service if the customer has a particular desire. “We agree on the budget and then we start looking for the rare pearl.”
“All items on display are physically checked and evaluated before they are placed online. Layers, prints, textures, patterns, dimensions, dimensions, colors, weight, scents, jewelry, packaging…everything is analyzed.”
Shop in 2023?
Based on rue de la Pomme in Saint-Georges, Ormain’s small team has not yet been able to accommodate actual clients. “We are currently looking for a place to set up a store and display our products. The ideal is to think about this at the beginning of 2023,” as Romain Gia aims, referring to Toulouse and Biarritz.
“We want a clean room that reminds us of luxury so it is not easy to find,” the young man laughs.
