In front of it, the duster is shorter by 20 cm under oppression (4, 34). It presents itself as a pure SUV that also offers all-wheel drive. But the two come together because they offer the same dual-fuel LPG petrol engine.

Getting on board, we notice a serious deviation in the design. The Jogger takes advantage of the new “Dacia” dashboard, which is also found on the Sandero. More luxurious, the latter is covered in fabrics and has a better thought-out design for new technologies, such as the smartphone holder with a USB port or the placement of the touch screen at eye level. But while we’ve realized this match, Dacia is in the process of doing a second restyling on the Duster that will partially correct these errors with a reworked interior.

Practical: Unbeatable Jogger

From a practical point of view, it’s a victory for the KO of the Jogger. In fact, the station wagon is available in 7 places that Duster doesn’t. For the five-seat versions compared here, the Jogger widens the gap. It takes advantage of its longer wheelbase to pamper its rear passengers even more, particularly in terms of legs as well as the head.

Folding long seat, XXL luggage compartment size and standard roof rails for the Jogger. It’s a fatal blow in practice.

Then there’s the standard boot volume of 708 liters as the base and finally some practicalities like the modular roof rails or the purse-fold rear seats, not available for the Duster. In both cases, the under-ground spare wheel cover is condemned by the presence of an LPG cylinder.

The space in the rear seats is correct on the Duster, 20cm shorter.

But be warned, the Duster has nothing to be ashamed of as it offers excellent trunk volume and although it’s 20 cm (478 litres) less, its modularity is less of a logical achievement since only the rear seats here fold down.

Budget: Prices go up in both cases

Budget is the nerve of war in Dacia. And while the entire range has seen a price hike lately, it remains one of the most competitive at the moment. The less expensive of the two is the Duster (18,300 euros in a comfortable finish) which leaves with an advantage of 800 euros. Both cars are equipped with the same dual-fuel engine, which consumes approximately the same engine according to homogenization cycles (6 l / 100 km in gasoline and 7.5 l / 100 km in LPG). They naturally require the same costs, the same maintenance frequencies and finally they have the same warranty i.e. 3 years unlimited mileage. A slight budget feature is on Duster’s credit.

Price / Equipment Ratio: Jogger is more modern

More expensive at €800, the Jogger makes up for its difference with a richer standard giveaway and equipment not found on Duster such as, for example, modular roof rails, wallet-foldable rear seats or wireless Android and Carplay connectivity. To this must be added colored background windows. When calculating points, Jogger shows a better price/equipment ratio.

* Since the comparison was made, finishes have evolved within the Dacia catalog. The ending ‘relaxed’ is now replaced by the ending ‘expression’.
